1. Genesee Country Village and Museum |
Visit the Genesee Country Museum's Historic Village, and take an exciting journey of discovery into the past. History comes alive as students explore a recreated 19th century village and learn about everyday life from period interpreters and craftspeople. Classes may include a gallery tour of the John L. Wehle Gallery of Wildlife and Sporting Art as part of their field trip to the Historic Village. The tour explores how four centuries of artists from the 1700s to the 1990s have depicted animals from North America, Europe, and Africa in paintings and sculptures. The works also represent shifting perspectives in how humans view animals: animal as prey, animals as servants, animals as companion, and animals as subjects of human curiosity and scientific discovery. The gallery is open to visitors from May 14 until October 31, Tuesdays - Fridays.
